This May go down as one of the oddest winters on record. NO snow December, then multiple power outages due to downed trees and limbs. Truly a test for everyone’s wood stoves, propane, and generators. Postponements not withstanding, we are a hearty and resilient bunch. If you can, get outside and enjoy everything that this season has to offer!
Throughout the year there are opportunities for Community sharing, assistance, and and volunteering.. We welcome you to attend an event here at the library, one of the many Community and church events, or try the Pot Luck Suppah at the Wilkins House 6pm each second Thursday of the month. Just bring an entre, vegetable, dessert, salad, etc. to share.
Kelley Halter Schaffer has organized various programs and activities, a community garden, mentorship program, plus more now listed on the town website: www.waterfordme.org

The Waterford Library is delighted to announce that new Heat Pumps were installed in January. This project was made possible by a grant from the Association for Rural & Small Libraries through the generosity of a regional partner foundation. Additional funds provided by private donations and total costs were offset by rebates from effiencyMaine. We are most grateful.
The Association for Rural & Small Libraries (ARSL) builds strong communities through professional development and elevating the impact of rural and small libraries. ARSL recognizes the uniqueness of small and rural libraries and is committed to providing an environment that encourages excellence within this community of practice, supporting their goals of service and speaking on behalf of this important constituency. Since 1 in 3 public libraries in the U.S. serve a population of fewer than 2,500 people, there is a great opportunity to support these library professionals that are often overlooked. We believe in the value of rural and small libraries and strive to create resources and services that address national, state, and local priorities for libraries situated in rural communities.
The leaves have fallen, the docks are in, and the temperature has finally dropped. This time of year we all slow down a bit to recharge gears and reflect. We have so much to be grateful for.
There was a HUGE turn out for Waterford Trunk or Treat Halloween at the WWF Fairgounds. Many thanks to all the wonderful "trunkers" and volunteers. We loved the Photo Booth, Free Kids Books, Cookies, Cider, Soup and Bread and all the COSTUMES and Candy!
We welcome you to attend a Community Pot Luck Suppah at the Wilkins House 6pm each second Thursday of the month. Just bring an entre, vegetable, dessert, salad, etc. to share.
Throughout the Holiday Season there are opportunities for Community sharing and to Give Back. We also support Waterford Santa and welcome you to apply for assistance, or help buy gifts for others. Call 207-583-2446 or waterfordsanta@yahoo.com
We were blessed with mild weather for the Annual Waterford Community Christmas on Dec. 3rd with first graders reading holiday essays at the church and during Carols on the Common. followed by Pot Luck Refreshments, New Book Giveaways, and a visit from Santa at the Library. TRULY SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
We wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Solstice, Happy Christmas, and Very Happy New Year.
Waterford Library is pleased to announce the return of our very popular live Maine Author series. Most of these books are available at the library.
Jan. 21- 11am - Robert Spencer of South Waterford - WLA trustee and retired landscape designer. His historical fiction: The Spinster’s Hope Chest and PROSPECTS, Mining Maine for Riches are set in early 19th - 20th century Maine. He will be discussing his third novel in the Lizzie Millett Series - Francena Hallett's Heart. All Welcome
You may have noticed a lot of buzz around the library grounds. In addition to our community vegetable garden, busy volunteers have been busily creating a new pollinator garden to further compliment our new landscaping. A new hedge, and Over 300 new bulbs have been planted already, with much more still in progress. This program is a combined effort of the Waterford Library, Waterford Congregational Church, and Master Gardener Program through the University of Maine Cooperative Extension and is entirely funded by public donations.
