The 69th season of Waterford Summer Breakfasts starts Monday, July 4th, at the Wilkins Community House at the foot of Plummer Hill Road, next to the Waterford Congregational Church. A breakfast of freshly baked muffins, eggs, pancakes, donuts holes, coffee, tea, and orange juice is served from 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. All muffins, including gluten free, are made from scratch. Future breakfast dates are Wednesdays July 20th, August 3rd and August 17th. The price for each breakfast is $10 for adults, and $5 for smaller portions.
NEW VOLUNTEERS NEEDED. Make new friends and meet your neighbors
You may have noticed a lot of buzz around the library grounds. In addition to our community vegetable garden, busy volunteers have been busily creating a new pollinator garden to further compliment our new landscaping. A new hedge, and Over 300 new bulbs have been planted already, with much more still in progress.
From 1938 -1950, Ed and Irene Bean kept Ice Out statistics while living in the Waterford Library apartment. Dates were inscribed inside the garage door. The tradition continued until their daughter Joan Fillebrown took over the job in the early 1970's. The torch was officially passed to Charlie Tarbell in 2019, after being trained for several years by Joan. Information is sent to the Department of Biological Services at the State University of NY for an ongoing study of Ice-Outs.
CONGRATULATIONS to Chris Brennan who correctly guessed KEOKA ICE OUT was April 10.
Many thanks to Everyone who supported this annual fundraiser. Continued thanks to Tim Sawyer for making a display chart listing every Ice Out date. It is always on view at the library.

Our entire WiFi system was just updated thanks to a grant from projectConnect (ITDRC) Information Technology Disaster Resource Center to install upgraded Community WiFi. An entirely new router, modem, 1000 GB WiFi connector, and outdoor satellite extender unit were installed to consolidate the system and all laptops were reconnected to the printer, assuring wireless connection for individual patron devices. The new system also connects into the NetworkMaineUniFi to collect user statistics. Hopefully, all these efforts will resolve our long standing issues. We are most grateful for the assistance of all these cooperating organizations.
Join us in welcoming Kayla Laid and Kelly Halter Schaffer. Monthly community programs and activities, Community Garden, a new mentorship program, and more are now listed on the town website: www.waterfordme.org
