Due to the success of STORYTIME we are now open every Tuesday from 10:30am-12:30pm
Come join our weekly Story Time for pre-school kids each Tuesday morning 10:30am - @1pm.
Each week volunteers read books to the children, followed by a fun activity and a snack.
Super fun for the little ones, and their parents too.
Feb 1-Mar 2 - Annual Keoka Lake Ice Out 50/50 Raffle Fundraiser.
A tradition since 1938. Guess the date the ice has Completely Gone from Keoka Lake. Tickets sold all month at the library or during 2024 Waterford Annual Town Meeting on March 2nd. Available for $1. ea or $5. for six. All proceeds benefit the Waterford Library
From 1938 -1950, Ed and Irene Bean kept Ice Out statistics while living in the Waterford Library apartment. Dates were inscribed inside the garage door. The tradition continued as daughter, Joan Fillebrown took over the job in the early 1970's. The torch officially passed to Charlie Tarbell in 2019, after being trained by Joan for several years. Information is sent to the Department of Biological Services at the State University of NY for an ongoing study of Ice-Outs.
Congratulations to Nick Archer for winning guess of April 14, 2024
Congratulations to Chris Brennan for winning guess of April 10, 2022
Congratulations to John Pendergast for winning guess of April 9, 2021
Congratulations to Maryanne Elliot for winning guess of April 7, 2020

Waterford Community Easter Egg Hunt & Book Giveaway - Always the Saturday before Easter.
Hunt starts at 2pm SHARP. While we gather, there is Storytime, plus free books for the children.
Kids 5 and under hunt inside the Library. Kids 6 and older hunt outside.
Please bring your own basket and wear proper footwear as it is usually muddy.
Fun for the whole family!
We are seriously considering adding a monthly LEGO program on Wednesdays.
Time to be determined. Most likely after school from 3:30-5pm
Details will be posted as soon as they are confirmed. Lego donations accepted.
Wasn't that early snowfall extraordinary, but unprecedented rains, icing, scattered flurries, floods, then hardly any snow made it a strange season indeed. Stay safe and cozy out there.
Throughout the year there are many opportunities for Community sharing, assistance, and volunteering. We welcome you to attend an event here at the library, or attend one of the other Community, Nonprofit, and church events. And, please tell us of any others to include.
Full list of all the various programs and activities are found under 2024 Community Calendar,
on our Facebook page, and on the town website: www.waterfordme.org
The Waterford Library is delighted to announce new Heat Pumps were installed in January 2023. This project was made possible by a grant from the Association for Rural & Small Libraries through the generosity of a regional partner foundation. Additional funds provided by private donations and total costs were offset by rebates from effiencyMaine. We are most grateful.
The Association for Rural & Small Libraries (ARSL) builds strong communities through professional development and elevating the impact of rural and small libraries. ARSL recognizes the uniqueness of small and rural libraries and is committed to providing an environment that encourages excellence within this community of practice, supporting their goals of service and speaking on behalf of this important constituency. Since 1 in 3 public libraries in the U.S. serve a population of fewer than 2,500 people, there is a great opportunity to support these library professionals that are often overlooked. We believe in the value of rural and small libraries and strive to create resources and services that address national, state, and local priorities for libraries situated in rural communities.
